COINS OF THE GREEK WORLD. PTOLEMAIC KINGDOM. Ptolemy I Soter, 323-284. Tetradrachm c. 300-285 BC, Alexandria. Diademed head of Ptolemy I to right, wearing aegis around his neck; behind ear, small Δ. Rv. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΠΤΟΛΕΜΑΙΟΥ Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; in field to left, P above monogram of ΠΑΡ. 13.98 g. SNG Copenhagen 70-71. Svoronos 255. A sharply struck and beautifully toned example. Minor flan crack. Tooling at the edge. Extremely fine. (~€ 220/USD 255) From an old Swiss collection, formed in the mid 20th century, acquired from Dr. H.
