Philip I Philadelphos ruled jointly with his twin brother Antiochus XI Epiphanes as co-regents over the Seleukid Empire. Philip I Philadelphos and Antiochus XI Epiphanes were sons of the Seleucid king Antiochus VIII Grypos and his wife Tryphaena. After the death of their father, they assumed joint rule over the empire. Their co-regency is believed to have occurred around 94 BC. The co-rule of Philip I Philadelphos and Antiochus XI Epiphanes took place during a time of internal strife and fragmentation within the Seleucid Empire. Various factions and contenders for power emerged, leading to instability and conflicts.
