France, First Empire. Napoléon I Æ Medal. Commemorating Austria's violation of the Treaty of Pressburg and the Battles of Abensberg and Eckmühl. Triply dated 9, 20 & 22 April 1809. Dies by Andrieu and Brenet, Denon; mintmaster. Tetrastyle temple with TEMPLVM JANI on architrave, triple-faced head of Janus atop, doors broken; TRAITÉ DE PRESBOURG ROMPU PAR L'AUTRICHE in two lines in exergue, IX AVRIL MDCCCIX. below, ANDRIEU F. to left, DENON DIR. to right / Napoléon standing facing, head to right, arms outstretched, before two large piles of arms and armour; ABENSBURG (star) ECKMUHL above, BATAILLES DES XX ET XXII. AVRIL MDCCCIX. XL. M. PRISONNIERS in three lines in exergue, DENON D to lower left, BRENET F to lower right. Bramsen 844. 35.96g, 40mm, 12h.
