Description

Cilicia, Tarsos AR Stater. Circa 410-385 BC. Persian satrap on horseback to right, wearing kyrbasia; 'key' symbol before / Hoplite kneeling to right, holding shield and spear; [grain ear to right?], Aramaic script 'TRW' (= Tarsos) above, all within dotted border within incuse square. Casabonne type F6; SNG BnF 220 var. ('key' symbol on rev., no grain ear); cf. SNG Levante 60 (same obv. die). 10.77g, 21mm, 10h.
