Description

Moesia, Tomis AR Tetradrachm. In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Circa 250-235 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left, holding sceptre; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩ[Σ] to left, ΑΛΕΧΑΝΔΡ[ΟΥ] to right, T monogram in circle (recut?) in inner left field. Marinescu & Lorber, The ‘Black Sea’ Tetradrachm Hoard, 2012, p. 198, 2 (same dies), otherwise unpublished. 17.14g, 28mm, 12h.
