Description

AGOSTI Giuseppe. De re botanica tractatus in quo praeter generalem methodum, et historiam plantarum, eae stirpes peculiariter recensentur, quae in agro Bellunensi, et Fidentino vel sponte crescunt, vel arte excoluntur. Additis adnotationibus quibus plurimarum plantarum vires indicantur. Belluni, typis Simonis Tissi, 1770 Cm. 29,5, pp. (4) 400. With a beautiful table out of text engraved in copper. Coeval binding in rustic style with through nerves. A clear halo that affects the binding plates and, almost imperceptibly, the first cards, however well preserved.Cfr. Pritzel, 70 e Buzzati (Bibliografia bellunese, 441) which is expressed in this way: "L'opera è divisa in due parti; la prima tratta De Herbis, la seconda De Arboris et Fructibus... The book is VERY RARE as most of the specimens were destroyed by the flames ... ". Agosti (Belluno 1715-1786) devoted himself deeply to botany, until being acclaimed among the most reputed illustrators of the flora of his region. This is his main work and there is an attempt to effectively reform the Tournefort's descriptive method
