Description

SASANIAN KINGS. Bahram VI (Chubin). AD. 631-632. Silver Drachm (3.90 gm; 31 mm). mint: WYHC (Ctesiphon region) 0r VISP (Visp Sad Khosrau-Ctesiphon region), year: 1, Extremely Rare. Crowned bust right / Fire altar flanked by attendents; star and crescent above. Highly capable commander and nobility from a Parthian family, he was able to usurp the power in cooperation with another commander and prince Vistham removing Hormizd IV from power and calling themselves king. He was eventually killed by the assasins of Khosrau II. This event is immortalized in the poems of Ferdawsi in his book of Kings (Shahnameh). Sunrise -; Göbl I/1. Choice Very Fine. Lightly toned.
