Heraclii, 608-620 AD 40 Nummi 610 AD Alexandria. Obv: d m N ERACLIO CONSVLII, frontal consular busts of Heraclius senior u. iunior, cross above. Rev: M, cross above, below A, left. A / N / N / O, r. X / IIII, in section ΑΛΕΧΑΝΔ. DOC 16; MIBE 16a; Sear 722. Dark tint, backs. Double strike.
At the end of the rule of Phocas, the Byzantine Empire found itself in a difficult situation.
