KINGS OF THRACE, LYSIMACHOS, c. 305-281 BC. AR, tetradrachm (30mm, 17,06g, 1h), struck in Amphipolis mint, c. 288-281. Diademed head of deified Alexander right with the horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, holding Nike crowning the name of Lysimachos and resting left arm on shield decorated with a lion head, spear behind her; Kerykeion with handle in left field, monogram to outer right; ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ. Thompson 195; Müller 102; HGC 1750l. EF, an amazing example of fine style and appealing iridescent toning.
