GREAT BRITAIN. England. Aethelred II (978-1016). Cut Penny. Uncertain mint and moneyer. Last Small Cross type.

Obv: Diademed and draped bust left.
Rev: Small cross pattée.

Cf. SCBC 1154; cf. North 777.

Though small change was made through cutting pennies like these in half, this coin appears to have been clipped around the edges, completely eliminating the outer legends, reducing the diameter nearly in half and the weight in nearly a third.

Condition: Cut down to inner border.

Weight: 0.36 g.
Diameter: 12 mm.
