★ Extremely Rare Issue of Akanthos ★
MACEDON. Akanthos. Triobol? (Circa 470-430 BC).
Obv: Forepart of lioness left, with head twisted as though biting at prey; rosette above.
Rev: Quadripartite incuse square.
Cf. CNG 88, lot 80 (tetrobol); cf. HGC 3.1, 388 (same).
Either this specimen is a light tetrobol, or an unusual denomination for the type—a triobol. Extremely rare.
Condition: Very fine.
Weight: 2.1 g.
