DOMITIAN (81-96). Denarius. Rome.

Obv: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM P M TR P VIIII.
Laureate head right.
Rev: IMP XIX COS XIIII CENS P P P.
Minerva, holding spear and shield, standing right on capital of rostral column; to right, owl standing right, head facing.

Cf. RIC² 686 (for IMP XXI).

An interesting piece, featuring either a muling of types or an engraving mistake by the celator, whereby the intended (and expected) IMP XXI was engraved as XIX. Very rare.

Condition: Extremely fine.

Weight: 3.3 g.
