Description

EASTERN EUROPE. Imitations of Alexander III 'the Great' of Macedon (3rd-2nd centuries BC). Tetradrachm.

Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin.
Rev: ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔЧ.
Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and sceptre. Controls: In left field, head of lion (?) left.

Cf. Lanz 880 (for a similar imitation); cf. OTA 570/1 (same).

Condition: Near very fine.

Weight: 17.1 g.
Diameter: 24 mm.
