THESSALY. Pherai. Hemidrachm (Circa 460-440 BC).

Obv: Youthful hero Thessalos, nude but for petasos hanging from neck, restraining forepart of bull right by band held around its head.
Rev: Φ - E.
Forepart of bridled horse left, with rein trailing; to upper right, lion’s head fountain with water pouring from its mouth; all within incuse square.

BCD Thessaly II 685; HGC 4, 551.
