Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great' (336-323 BC). Tetradrachm. Uncertain mint, possibly Side. Possible lifetime issue.

Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin.
Rev: AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ.
Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and sceptre. Controls: Wreath in left field, ΔΙ below throne.

Price 2949; HGC 3.1, 943b (Alexander IV).

Condition: Good very fine, light mark on chin.

Weight: 16.49 g.
Diameter: 26 mm.
