This early series of Ephesos which has been struck in different denominations can be attributed to the city due a small detail. Hidden between the hair of the gorgo, right over the vertex, one can see a small bee. Usually it is higly abstracted because of the small size of the coins, but on the extremely rare 1/3 staters they are easy to identify (see Hauck & Aufhäuser 14/ 142).
