AN EGYPTIAN FAIENCE FIGURE OF BES Late Period, 26th-30th Dynasty, 664-342 BC. A double-sided, two-coloured faience amulet of the dwarf-god Bes. The ancient Egyptian deity Bes was worshipped as a protector of households, mothers, children, and childbirth. He later came to be regarded as the defender of everything good.
