A ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING ARTEMIS EPHESIA Circa 2nd-3rd century AD. Oval intaglio featuring Artemis of Ephesus standing facing, two torches in her hands, and flanked by two (stylised) stags. The temple of Artemis and her cult statue at Ephesus were regarded as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Some white spots; edge chipped at one o'clock. H 11 mm
