AN UNPUBLISHED ROMAN DANUBIAN RIDER LEAD VOTIVE PLAQUE Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Circular ‘Mystery Plaque’. Depicted are (from top to bottom): busts of Sol (right) and Luna (left), between them a female figure (Nemesis). In the main register, a facing goddess (Epona), flanked by two horsemen with their right hand raised, trampling on two prone men; behind them a jug (left) and a jug on a tripod table (right). At the bottom in the centre, a sacrifice scene; to the left a figure of a ram, to the right a lion. For the iconography see: R. F. Ertl, Donaureiter Bleivotivtafeln (Petronell-Carnuntum 1996).
