A ROMAN DANUBIAN RIDER LEAD VOTIVE PLAQUE Circa 3rd-4th century AD. Rectangular ‘Mystery Plaque’ with twisted border and wavy top; circular central medallion. In the wavy top section, a fish flanked by stars. In the corners below, four busts (the four seasons or winds?). Within the medallion (from top to bottom): busts of Sol (left) and Luna (right), between them a female figure (Nemesis?), behind them a tripod table and a lion. In the main register, a facing goddess, flanked by two horsemen with their right hand raised, trampling on two prone men; behind them a further figure (left) and a bird and an eagle (right).
