Description
LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 23 mm, 7.79 g, 1 h). Bearded head of Leukippos to right, wearing Corinthian helmet; behind, lion’s head to right. AΠ monogram below cheek. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, vertical club with head below; below leaf, ΑΜΙ. HN III 1575. Johnston Class B, 2.16 ( same dies ). SNG ANS 436 ( same dies ). Fine style. Usual flan cracks, otherwise, good very fine.
