ΜΕΣΣΑΝΑ The Nymph Messana, wearing long chiton and holding whip in her right hand and the reins in both, driving biga of mules to right; in exergue, two opposed dolphins. Rev. ΜΕΣ-ΣΑ-ΝΙ-Ο-Ν Hare springing to right; below, dolphin swimming to right. Caltabiano 519 (D207/R216). SNG Copenhagen 400 ( same dies ). SNG Lockett 826 ( same dies ). SNG Munich 654. Lightly toned, well-struck and very attractive. Traces of overstriking, otherwise, extremely fine.
