Description

SICILY. Entella. Punic issues, circa 345/38-320/15 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25.5 mm, 17.39 g, 6 h). Head of Tanit-Persephone to right, wearing wreath of grain leaves, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; behind her neck, symbol of Tanit; around, three dolphins. Rev. Horse standing right before palm tree; to right, kerykeion. Gulbenkian 368 ( same dies ). Jenkins, Punic 89 (O31/R80). SNG Lloyd 1619-1620 ( same dies ). SNG Lockett 1039 ( same dies ). An attractive piece, nicely centered, attractively toned and of good style. Extremely fine.
