KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Chalcous (Bronze, 11 mm, 1.46 g, 6 h), uncertain mint, c. 332-323. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion’s skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ Club and bow in bowcase. HGC 3.1, 930. Price 332-334. The smallest denomination of Alexander's bronze coinage is also the most rare, and the most hard-to-find in better condition. This is a lovely example. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.
