Description
BRUTTIUM. Hipponion. Circa 350-275 BC. Obol (Bronze, 19 mm, 4.66 g, 8 h). Laureate head of Zeus to left. Rev. EIΠΩNIEΩN Amphora; to right, lighted torch. HN III 2251 var. (Zeus to right). SNG 458 var. (caduceus instead of torch). A rare, possibly unpublished, variety. Oblong flan, otherwise, very fine.
