ACHAEA. Aegium. Caracalla, 198-217. (Bronze, 24 mm, 5.54 g, 6 h). ΜΑΡ ΑΩΡ ΑΝ[ΤωΝΕΙΝΟC] Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right. Rev. [ΑΙΓΙ]-ωΝ Herakles standing to right with head turned to left, holding club in right hand and golden apple of the Hesperides in his left hand, with lion skin draped over his left arm. Cf. BCD Peloponnesos 460 (same obverse die, but with a different reverse design). Cf. BCD Peloponnesos 447 (same reverse design from Aegium, but for Marcus Aurelius). NCP -. Extremely rare and seemingly unpublished; none sold in recent years. Rough surfaces, otherwise, about very fine.
