Gordian III, AD 238-244. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 34 mm, 20.62 g, 12 h), Rome, c. 240. IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to right. Rev. AETERNITATI AVG / S-C Sol, nude except for cloak around shoulders, standing to left, raising right hand and holding globe in left. Banti 20. Cohen 43. RIC IV 297a. Dark green patina. Extremely fine.
