Description

SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos III ‘the Great’, 223-187 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28.5 mm, 16.72 g, 12 h), Antioch on the Orontes, circa 204-197 BC. Diademed head of Antiochos III to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟXΟΥ Apollo seated to left on omphalos, holding an arrow in his right hand and grounded bow in his left; to left field, monogram; in exergue, H. HGC 9, 447u. SC 1044.4c. Toned. A few old scratches on the reverse; light deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From a German collection assembled during the second half of the 20th century, acquired from Sternberg in 1982.
