Description

BRUTTIUM. Kaulonia. Circa 475-425 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 8.07 g, 2 h). ΚΑVΛ Apollo, nude, his hair bound with a taenia, advancing to right, with a laurel branch in his upraised right hand and a daimon ( obscured by a die fault ) running to right on his outstretched left arm. Rev. ΚΑVΛ ( retrograde ) Stag standing to right; to right, laurel branch. HN III 2046. Noe, Caulonia 92. SNG Copenhagen 1712. Attractively toned and well-struck. Die break on the obverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
