ARKADIA, Arkadian League. Tegea. Circa 465-460 BC. Hemidrachm (Silver, 15 mm, 2.89 g, 12 h). Zeus Lykaios seated to left on throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and scepter with his left. Rev. ΑRKA-ΔIKON Head of Kallisto to right, wearing hair band and pendant necklace. Cf. BCD Peloponnesos 1710 and Williams, 181, especially obverse 123. Attractively toned, with a seated Zeus of fine style and with a lovely head of Kallisto. Good very fine.

A remarkable piece: both dies were unknown to BCD and Williams, and both are of very high quality.
