KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes V, the Cappadocian, AD 6-12. Chalkous (Bronze, 13.5 mm, 1.56 g, 1 h), Artagigarta (?). Diademed, draped, and bearded bust of Tigranes to right, wearing tiara decorated with three eagles. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ( somewhat garbled ) Elephant's head to left with raised trunk. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 186 var ( retrograde inscription ). Very rare, possibly unpublished with the variation in the legend orientation; with fine green patina strengthened by earthen highlights and a strong portrait. Slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
