Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip V, 221-179 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.21 g, 5 h), Pella, 202-200. Head of the youthful hero Perseus to left, wearing a winged helmet with a griffin's head ornament, and with a harpa behind his neck; all within the center of a Macedonian shield with seven star-within-crescent ornaments. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Club to right within oak wreath with ties on the left. AMNG p. 197, 1 and pl. II, 3 (Philip VI Andriskos). Boehringer, Chronologie, pl. 8, 8 (Philip V).
