Description

ROMAN AND BYZANTINE COINS Antioch, Syria. Claudius, 41-54. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29mm, 14.89g 11), with Nero Caesar, 50-54. ΤΙΒ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟΥ ΚΑΙCΑΡΟC CΕΒΑCΤΟΥ Laureate head of Claudius to right. Rev. ΝΕΡωΝΟC ΚΑΙCΑΡ[ΟC ΓΕΡΜ]ΑΝΙΚΟΥ Bare-headed and draped bust of the young Nero to left. Prieur 68. RPC 4169. Very rare. Toned and with interesting portraits. Some minor marks and with the reverse off center, otherwise , good very fine. From the collection of E. J. Haeberlin, but not in the 1937 cata­logue.
