Description

GREEK COINS Lesbos Mytilene, c. 500 BC. Hekte (Electrum, 9mm, 2.55g 5). Ram’s head to right; below, rooster feeding to left. Rev. Lion’s head with open jaws to right; behind, rec­tangle divided into two squares; all incuse. BMC 7-9. Bo­denstedt 16. SNG von Aulock 1688 and 7719. Rare. An attractive pair of animal heads. Rooster’s head off the flan as usual, otherwise , good extremely fine. From the Spina Collection, Nomos 7, 15 May 2013, 126 and ex Triton XI, 8 January 2008, 222.
