CRETE
Tylisos. 4th century BC. Stater (Silver, 23mm, 11.32 g 12). Head of Hera to right, wearing mural crown, elaborate earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΤΥΛ-ΙΣΙΟΣ ( retrograde ) Apollo, nude, standing left, holding phiale in his outstretched right hand and his bow in his left; beneath his right arm, Α. Le Rider -. Cf. Svoronos p. 330, 11 and pl. XXXI, 7 ( without the A on the reverse ). Very rare. Struck on a broad flan and with a fine head of Hera. As found, with a covering of horn silver on the obverse encrusted with earth, and with a typically crude reverse, otherwise , good very fine. From the Brünn Collection, acquired in Italy prior to World War I.
