Gortyna. Circa 300-280/70 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19mm, 5.68 g 6). Large head of Europa to right, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace, and with her hair bound with grain leaves. Rev. Protome of a bull to right, his head turned slightly toward the viewer. BMC 38. Le Rider pl. XX, 17. Svoronos p. 169, 93 and pl. XV, 12. A bold, well-struck and unusually nice example. Some black deposits, otherwise , nearly extremely fine. From the Brünn Collection, acquired in Italy prior to World War I.
