TABARISTAN. 'Abbasid governors. 'Umar b. al-'Ala, PYE 120-129/30. Hemidrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 2.06 g, 11 h), PYE 128. Sasanian-style bust to right, wearing winged crown; stars flanking crown and breast ornament decorated with star; crescent above right shoulder; in the margins: 'pd (excellent) to right and nywk' (good) to left. Rev. Sasanian-style fire altar flanked by two attendants; pellet and pellet flanking flames. Malek 79. Extremely fine.
