ACHAEA. Aegium. Caracalla, 198-217. Diassarion (Bronze, 23 mm, 4.75 g, 1 h). MAP AVP ANTΩNEINOC Laureate draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. AIΓIEΩN The Goddess of Birth, Eileithyia, standing facing, turning her head to right, holding a lighted torch in each hand. BCD Peloponessos -. Kroll, Aigion 64 var. (arrangement of torches). Obverse struck from the same die as the one used to strike BCD Peloponessos 459-460. Possibly an unique variation of a rare type, and with a very rare depiction of the deity of birth. Very fine.
