★ Countermark of Odessos ★
KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-282/1 BC. (Bronze, 19 mm, 2.49 g, 11 h), Contemporary imitation. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet. Rev. B[A]ΣIΛE[ΩΣ ΛYΣIMA]XOY Lion leaping to right; countermark: river-god Hebros reclining left, Δ in circle monogram below. Cf. HGC 3, 1758. Olive-green patina. Crude as made. Very fine.
