KINGS OF CAPPADOCIA. Ariarathes IV, circa 220-163 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 14 mm, 2.18 g, 12 h), uncertain mint. Draped bust of Ariarathes to left, wearing bashlyk. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ APIAPAΘOY Athena standing left, holding spear and resting her left hand upon her shield. HGC 7, 808. Simonetta 8 (as Ariarathes III). With a clear, glossy green patina and a most attractive portrait of Ariarathes. Very fine.
