★ Intriguing Depiction of the Fateful Milvian Bridge ★

Commemorative Series, 330-354. Follis (Bronze, 15 mm, 1.13 g, 6 h), Constantinople, 5th officina (E), circa 330. POP ROMANVS Laureate and draped bust of Genius to left, with cornucopia over his left shoulder. Rev. CONS/E The Milvian Bridge with tower at each end, over flowing water of the river Tiber. LRBC 1066. RIC 21. Dark brown patina with reddish-orange earthen highlights. Very fine.

At the battle of the Milvian Bridge in Rome, Constantine (later known as The Great ), defeated Maxentius, his last major rival for sole rule over the Roman Empire.
