Aemilian, 253. Denarius (Silver, 22 mm, 3.22 g, 6 h), Rome. IMP AEMILIANVS PIVS FEL AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Aemilian to right. Rev. MARTI PROPVGT Mars standing left, leaning on his shield and holding reversed spear. Cohen 25. RIC 6. Toned, with a good portrait, and actually unusually nice. Some traces of corrosion , otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired in the early 1950s from the estate of the late Dr. L. Naegeli of Zürich (died in 1951).
