Description

Trebonianus Gallus, 251-253. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 31 mm, 17.59 g, 12 h), Rome, 251-252. IMP CAES C VIBIVS TREBONIANVS GALLVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Trebonianus Gallus to right. Rev. IVNONI MARTIALI /S C Within a domed and garlanded distyle shrine, statue of Juno seated facing, holding grain ears and scepter, . Cohen 50. RIC 110a var. ( the RIC mistakenly places a peacock next to Juno on this reverse. It normally does not appear as Cohen indicates; a much rarer variety does have a peacock as NAC 42, 2007, 165 ). Deep brown surfaces. Irregular flan, typical for the issue, and considerable traces of corrosion, especially on the reverse , otherwise, good very fine.
