Description

Crispina, Augusta, 178-182. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 25 mm, 12.58 g, 11 h), struck under Marcus Aurelius and Commodus, Rome. CRISPINA AVGVSTA Draped bust of Crispina ro right. Rev. VENVS / S C Venus standing facing, head left, holding apple on her extended right hand and raising her veil with her left. Cohen 37. RIC 684. Reddish brown patina. Flan crack at 5h on the obverse , otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1975 from Hess in Luzern.
