Description

Crispina, Augusta, 178-182. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 29 mm, 20.89 g, 6 h), struck under Marcus Aurelius and Commodus, Rome. CRISPINA AVGVSTA Draped bust of Crispina ro right. Rev. SALVS / S C Salus seated left on throne, feeding out of patera snake rising from altar to left. Banti 14. RIC 672a (Commodus). Deep green patina. Struck on a tight flan and with lightly smoothed fields , otherwise, good very fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1975.
