Divus Antoninus Pius, died in 161. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 34 mm, 26.59 g, 6 h), Rome, 161 and later. DIVVS ANTONINVS Bare-headed bust of Antoninus Pius to right, with slight drapery on his far shoulders. Rev. CONSECRATIO S C Eagle, with spread wings, standing right on globe, his head turned back to left. Banti 68 ( this coin ). BMC 871 var. Cohen -. RIC -. A remarkably bold piece with a splendid portrait and a glossy brown patina. About extremely fine.
