Description

Germanicus, died 19. Dupondius (Orichalcum, 30 mm, 13.75 g, 6 h), struck under his son, Gaius (Caligula), Rome, 37-41. GERMANICVS CAESAR Germanicus in ornamented quadriga to right. Rev. SIGNIS RECEPT DEVICTIS GERM / S C Germanicus advancing left, raising right hand and holding legionary eagle. BMC 94 (Gaius). Cohen 7. RIC I 57 (Gaius). Dark patina. Unimportant cleaning marks , otherwise, very fine.
