Description

Agrippa, died AD 12. As (Copper, 29 mm, 12.35 g, 5 h), struck under Caligula, Rome, 37-41. M AGRIPPA L F COS III Head of Agrippa to left, wearing rostral crown. Rev. S C Neptune standing left, holding small dolphin and trident. BMC (Tiberius) 161-168. Cohen 3. BN 77-97. RIC I 58 (Gaius). A pleasant, well centered example with a particularly attractive brown patina. Some old scratches on the reverse , otherwise, very fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1975.
