CORINTHIA. Corinth . Julius Caesar, 44-43 BC. As (Bronze, 25 mm, 11.16 g, 6 h), under the duovirs, L. Aeficius Certus and C. Iulius. LAVS.IVLI. / COR Laureate head of Julius Caesar to right. Rev. L.CERTO.AEFICIO / C.IVLIO.IIVIR Bellerophon riding on Pegasos flying to right. Alföldi, Caesar in 44, pl. lii, Br 3 ( this coin ). Amandry I, 1a, D11/R28, a ( this coin ). CRI 614. RPC 1116. An attractive example, well-struck and evenly worn. About very fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, ex Münzen und Medaillen FPL 181, July 1958, 35 and from the collection of Apostolo Zeno (1688-1750), III, Dorotheum, Vienna, 22 March 1957, 3744.

This coin was probably acquired by Zeno after his retirement to Venice in 1729: it almost certainly arrived in Venice during the Republic's occupation of the Morea, c. 1685-1715.
