Description

Julius Caesar, second half of February, 44 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.72 g, 6 h), Rome, under P. Sepullius Macer. CAESAR IMP Laureate head of Caesar to right; behind head, eight-pointed star. Rev. P SEPVLLIVS MACER Venus standing left, holding Victory in her right hand and long staff resting on star in her left. Alföldi V, obverse 10. Crawford 480/5b. CRI 106a. Sydenham 1071. With a clear portrait of Caesar. Test marks and erosions , otherwise, good fine.
From the collection of W. F. Stoecklin, Amriswil, Switzerland, acquired prior to 1975.
